Home of the Swallow
Home of the Swallow is designed to assist pregnant and parenting women who are facing cultural, religious or family pressures to reject their child. It exists to help those women who have a genuine desire to care for their birth children, but are unable to do so on their own because they lack financial stability or family support.
The parenting assistance provided at the home includes further education, counseling, life-skill training, job-skill training, and spiritual and emotional support, with the goal of enabling these women to become independent caregivers of their children.
The Green House
The Green House serves adoptive families, allowing them to utilize their time effectively and remain relaxed and free from the stresses of local transport in a foreign environment.
For a child in foster care the transition period from foster family to adoptive family is crucial, and the accommodation chosen by the adoptive family can make an impact on this event. Adoptive parents that stay within a comfortable walking distance of the foster family home enjoy a less stressful time as well as being able to have more exposure to the daily routine and life of the child.
Swallow's Nest
Swallow's Nest operates in conjunction with the Home of the Swallow, and provides an opportunity for the women to work at home with their babies present. Participation in this program helps instill a work ethic of integrity and responsibility as they contribute some of what they earn to the household and the costs involved in having them in the program.
Featured products are designed for use with babies, and include baby blankets, hammocks, sleeping bags and carriers. Profits from sales of these items is used to support Home of the Swallow and other associated programs.
